Cool River Church started like most other churches.  God moved the hearts of some people to start a church where there was no church and they stepped out in faith to follow God's promptings.  Pretty simple...yet a great undertaking...especially considering the spiritual history of Superior.

There have only been two churches that have survived any more than 40 years in Superior.  Both of those churches existed in the early 1900's, during the coal-boom.  Once the mining was done...so were the churches.  Since that time (mid-1960's) there has been no standing church of any denomination (or any religion for that matter) in Superior.  There have been several attempts...but none materialized as a long-lasting church in the community.  That lack of spiritual influence in our town led one family to move and begin the work for a new church.

The adventure began in June of 2002.  Kevin and Amy Colón and their children drove into Superior with a dream.  The dream was for a vibrant, thriving community of faith to be birthed and established in Superior--a community of faith that would serve and love the people of Superior in such a way that there would be a lasting impact on many lives.

Little by little, their vision spread and a group formed and gathered to pray for the vision.  Together they served the town of Superior in various ways.  A small group indeed, but a small group with a big heart for our town.

After several months or praying and planning, the public launch of the ministry occurred.

In October of 2003, Cool River had its first weekly worship service at Eldorado K-8 School.

Currently, Cool River continues to work diligently to REACH, CONNECT and DEVELOP people for God.  Check out the pages of this website to find out what Cool River has become.
