The Suburbs are a great place to live. Nice people, good shopping, great schools, manicured lawns and cul-de-sacs. What more could you want?  It is so nice!  But, don't be fooled.  With all the good stuff suburbs provide, there are people getting killed by them every day.  Over the next few weeks we'll be exploring what aspects of the suburbs could kill you and how you can avoid 'Death by Suburb'.

JONES FAMILY UPDATE
The time is soon approaching for the Jones family to arrive in Colorado.  They have secured a place to live and Dustin will be here August 3 with the moving truck.  Anyone available to help unload that evening (6:30-7PM) would be greatly appreciated.  Please let us know by replying to this email.  Christin and her mom will arrive on the 4th with the kids.  It would be cool to have some food to welcome them and make the transition easier.  Let us know if you can help with that.
Finances:  The Jones family is making a huge faith step by coming to Cool River.  Let's continue to be faithful in our commitments to supporting their family and continuing to pray for their resources.
Needs:  Christin is looking for a part time job. Teaching, Education, Children.  If you have any leads, please let us know.
Timeline:  Arriving: Aug 3, 4.  First Sunday attending Cool River: Aug. 8, First week of work:  Aug. 9.  First Sunday leading at Cool River:  Aug 15  (Potluck after church to welcome them)

SHAREFEST WORK DAY @ HERITAGE HOUSE -- RESCHEDULED

STEWARDSHIP TEAM OPENING

ROOMMATE WANTED

VENTURE VIETNAM

The recent team had a great experience and we hope you'll take a few minutes to read about their trip here: http://crcventurevietnam2010.blogspot.com/.  Like what you see?  It's not too late to be part of the Fall Vietnam Team!  Contact us ASAP if you are interested.  A few more details about this trip:  Dates: September 4-12 (flexibile dates, +/- 3 days).  Deadline: June 4 with current passport -- this has been extended, please sign up now!  Cost: Total cost approx. $2200 with airfare cost due in July ($1200-$1700).

TRAILER STORAGE/PULLING

CHILI FEST
Mark your calendars now for Superior's 10th Annual Chili Fest!  Cool River will have a booth as usual where we'll be passing out root beer floats (or possibly hot chocolate!), water, candy, etc.  It's an awesome event with some great chili!!  Be ready for it on September 11 from 3-7PM.

The Second Mile Initiative is a set of challenges that continue to move us into engaging the ‘least of these’ in our community. Seven other congregations in Boulder County are also participating! The goal: To make us more and more in step with the heart of God.  

Restoring Global Injustices

The horrors of injustice around the world are numerous.  Slavery, sex trafficking, oppression, famine, genocide, and the list goes on and on.  What can you do to actively be a part of restoring someone's life in a far off place?  What does God want you to do to engage?  Do you need to become more aware?  Do you need to write a check?  Do you need to go do some work yourself to alleviate injustice?  Some steps you could take:  Explore the issues.  Check out www.iepathize.org or www.ijm.org.  Come with us to Vietnam.  Engage in our new opportunities in Mexico City to stop sex trafficking.
